A man is fighting for his life after being shot in Finglas in Dublin.
It’s understood he was a well known republican from the capital.
At around 3.15pm the man who is in his early to mid twenties was shot on McKee Road.
He was taken to the Mater hospital where his condition is described as very serious.
It’s understood the man was a close relative of the late Alan Ryan, a leading figure in the Real IRA who was killed in 2012.
The killing is not part of recent gangland activity in Dublin.
The road remains sealed off this evening and a garda forensic team is working at the scene.
