At least 24 people have died in the worst floods for a hundred years in the US state of West Virginia.

Many more have been left homeless and thousands of homes are without power after torrential rain caused rivers to overflow.

President Obama has offered his condolences to those affected by the disaster, and approved federal aid to send to the affected area.
