The Justice Minister is under pressure to explain whether he knew about the existence of tapes relating to the Ian Bailey case.

It follows reports that phone conversations with two main witnesses were recorded during the investigation into Sophie Toscan du Plantier's murder in west Cork in December of 1996.

Those documents include a report from the DPP which found no grounds to prosecute Mr Bailey for the murder.

The Sunday Times John Mooney says the recordings in question are separate to the Garda Tapes issue.
