A Wicklow couple has received a cheque for a quarter of a million euro after retrieving their winning ticket from a bin!

They scooped the Lotto Plus 2 Draw on Saturday 7th May after buying their ticket at Centra in Roundwood on the day of the draw.

The winning couple had checked the numbers for the main draw and disposed of the ticket when it wasn't a winner.

But when they heard the Lotto Plus 2 Draw winner had been sold locally, they emptied the kitchen bin and checked the numbers.

They plan to take time out before deciding what to spend the winnings on.
