Gardaí are investigating the sudden death of a woman found with serious head injuries in Co Cavan.

The 54-year-old was treated for serious injuries after an incident outside an apartment at Kempton Court in Cavan town at around 6.30am this morning.

She was taken to Cavan General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

A post mortem is due to be carried out at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Cavan Garda Station.
