The body of a man in his early forties has been discovered in Roscrea, County Tipperary.

Gardaí were alerted to an incident at The Maltings at around 2.30 am this morning.

The man had suffered apparent stab wounds and was pronounced dead at scene.

A woman in her mid forties, was arrested a short time later.

She is currently being detained at Nenagh Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The scene has been preserved and the Offices of the State Pathologist has been notified.
