Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 20s was attacked in Raheny.

She was grabbed by a man and pulled to the ground at the junction of Dollymount Beach and the Howth Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A passing motorist came to the woman's assistance and her attacker fled the scene.

He's described as being in his late 40s, short with black hair and he was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms with white stripes and spoke with a Dublin accent.
