A woman has been charged with stabbing another woman with a broken bottle in a street attack in Limerick City.

20-year old Susan McCarthy, of Keyes Park, Southill, was brought before a special sitting of Limerick District Court charged with assault causing harm to 21-year old Leanne Delaney, of Shannon, Co Clare.

Ms Delaney remains in a serious but stable condition in University Hospital Limerick, after the incident which occurred yesterday.

The accused was remanded on a number of strict bail conditions to appear before the district court again in December.
