A man in his 40s is being questioned after a stabbing incident in Dublin this morning.
A woman in her 40's is in a critical but stable condition at St James Hospital after the incident.
Shortly after 8 am this morning she was attacked in the stairwell of a flats complex on School Street in Dublin 8.
The scene has been preserved for a technical exam. Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
