A woman has died after she was struck by a car in county Donegal.

The incident happed at Churchtown in Carndonagh, shortly before 6 o'clock yesterday evening.

The 70 year old woman received serious head injuries and was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry where she died shortly before midnight.

The driver of the car, a man in his 40's, was not injured.

The area has been sealed off while forensic collision investigators carry out an examination.
