Gardai are investigating a fatal crash in Louth last night.

The two car collision happened at Clonmore near Togher, just before half past eleven.

A female passenger in one of the cars who was in her 70s was killed.

A post mortem will be carried out at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda.

The driver of the car, a woman in her early 60s, and two people in their twenties travelling in the second car, were also removed to hospital, with non life-threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed for a forensic examination.

Gardai have asked anyone who travelled the road between 11 and 11.30pm to contact them at Drogheda Garda station or on the Garda confidential phone line.
