A 77-year-old woman is recovering in hospital after she was shot in the leg at her home in Dublin last night.

She was shot by a lone gunman who knocked on her door on Oliver Plunkett Avenue in Monkstown at twenty past eleven last night.

Gardaí have described it as a callous attack; they are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
