A woman in her 70s has died in a house fire in Shannon, Co. Clare.
The blaze at a house in Hurler's Cross was spotted by a motorist on the N18 dual carriageway at around half one this morning, who raised the alarm.
The woman's body was found inside by emergency services and gardaí, who are treating the incident as a tragic accident.
A post mortem examination is due to be carried out later.
