WomenÂ’s Aid is welcoming the new strategy on domestic and sexual violence, in particular the training of gardai.
In 2014, the Garda Inspectorate Report criticised An Garda Síochána for its handling of victims of domestic violence.
One in five women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.

One million euro’s also being allocated to a public awareness programme on the issue.
