Motorists are being warned of very icy conditions after temperatures fell to minus four degrees overnight.

A yellow weather warning is in place until this afternoon as the sub zero temperaturs slowly lift.

Road conditions are hazardous with black ice in many places.

Gardai say County Kildare is the worst affected.

Noel Byrne from AA Roadwatch says a vehicle's stopping distance is greatly affected when the weather drops below freezing.
