Youth homelessness has increased by 78 per cent in the past three years.

Focus Ireland says new figures show 18 to 24 year-olds now make up 10 per cent of the 7-thousand 400 people who are homeless.

The charity says they've been hit hard by the reduced rate of social welfare available to them.

It says these young people are in danger of becoming the forgotten homeless if action isn't taken.
