A financial expert has given Ireland's newest multi-millionaires some advise following their lotto win last night.

Someone is waking up €175 million better off this morning after scooping the Euromillions jackpot yesterday, making them the winner of the biggest ever Lotto pay out in Ireland

They are now instantly richer than Enya and Bob Geldof.

Chatting to the Dermot & Dave show on Today FM, financial expert Paul Merriman, from AskPaul.ie has been dishing out some advice for the lucky Lotto winners.

Paul says the winning person needs to ease themselves into their new life by slowly adjusting to this massive payout.

After they collect their winnings, they need to act as though they've only won two or three million, to allow the scale of the win to really sink in.

They should hold off on splashing their cash and should avoid handing over big sums to family and friends.

They need to take time to carefully consider all of their options before they start giving away their money.

If you ever find yourself on the end of a €175 million win, Paul says don’t stroll into an Irish bank, instead those who come into large sums of cash should move to an International bank.

Lastly Paul advises that protecting their anonymity should be their number one priority.
