Finally, the wait is over!
After a 45 year drought, Limerick's Senior hurlers will later today return to the Treaty County with the Liam MacCarthy cup firmly is their grip.
On this morning's Dermot and Dave, the lads gave Mayor of Limerick Councillor James Collins a call to find out all about the incredible homecoming celebrations they have planned.
Here are the key points:
- It will be held at the Gaelic Grounds with gates opening at 4pm
- It is a ticket-only event with free tickets available from Eventbrite.ie
- The Limerick squad and the trophy will arrive on stage at 7pm
- Due to health and safety, no one will be permitted to enter the stadium after 6:30pm
- There will be entertainment from Irish group Beoga, fronted by Limerick woman Niamh Dunne, who will be first on the stage followed by The Blizzards and then DJ Mark McCabe.
James gave us a feel of what it was like to be there in Croke Park yesterday, told us how much it means to the county and mentioned a very special Cranberries moment that he'll never forget.
He also admitted to a bit of trash talk with Galway's Mayor and Cathaoirleach. Sure a bit of friendly banter never hurt anyone.
It's time to paint the town green(er)!!!
