It's not long now until his holiness Pope Francis touches down in Ireland for the first Papal visit in 39 years.
As the country readies itself for the logistical nightmare this coming weekend (road closures, hundreds of thousands of people trying to navigate Mayo and Dublin etc.), The Last Word this evening takes a look back at the first trip to Ireland by a Pope.
The Last Word's Matt Cooper popped in to Dermot and Dave this morning to tell us about the four-part series which will give younger listeners a sense of what things were like here at the end of the 70's.
The documentary was put together by The Last Word's Daniel Cahill and Today FM Reporter Lise Hand and will highlight how things have changed over the past four decades.
Tune into the #LastWord this week for #PapalAttraction, a four part documentary series taking a look at what Ireland was like during the Pope's visit in 1979, it was a very different place...https://t.co/g1plMPo0FY @cooper_m pic.twitter.com/lS91bBls6Q

Matt also recounts some anecdotes from his memories of being a 13-year-old spectator at the original event.
It sounds like a very interesting project that will surprise many's a listener.
