"Why would you want City to win it - you're a Man United fan?"

Ireland manager Mick McCarthy was left baffled after Dermot and Dave's Dave Moore revealed he would rather see Manchester City beat Manchester United in the derby at Old Trafford this evening than witness Liverpool lift the Premier League trophy.

In fairness, I think that's the general consensus of all the die-hard Red Devils supporters out there right now - but all Mick could say was, "I think the word 'weird' comes to mind", as Moore tried to explain.

The former Ipswich boss was at the Aviva Stadium for the launch of the FAI Summer Soccer Schools with SportsDirect and had lots to talk about with the two D's.

McCarthy was in flying form as he chatted about how positive things are in the Ireland camp right now and takes a look at some of the Irish players making their mark outside of international duty.

Like this guy (if you have 7.69 seconds to spare):

Robbie (Keane) has been great. He's added a lot to the camp because he's very close to the players still

When asked about what his approach is this time around is, he says,

My job as a manager surely is to win games, surely is to do as best as you possibly can however you do it

To not listen to all the stories that have gone on before

As far as he's concerned it's a clean slate for him and the squad so they can build a strong platform for the future.

The lads explore the recent debacle within the FAI, where Mick is frank in saying, "it's the football that counts" - not the stuff off the pitch.

The 60-year-old then answers some of our listener's questions like, "Who was the best player you ever managed?" and "Were you ever in the running for the Leeds job?".

That Leeds role has a big place in his heart so don't be surprised if you see him taking over there in the years to come.

We also learn how much he was bricking it in the opening game of the Euro 2020 Qualifiers against Gibraltar.

We're big fans of yours Mick. Let's hope the bacon slicer doesn't have to be fired up any time soon.
