It's one of the most hotly anticipated productions the capital has ever seen and this evening, Copper Face Jacks:The Musical kicks off in The Olympia Theatre.
There's a very high possibility that if you've ever had a few nights out in Dublin, you've made it to Harcourt Streets' most renowned dwelling (well some people do practically live there). A mythical twilight zone where time doesn't seem to exist and dreams come true.
The concept has been 6 years in the making and actually started as a joke, but now, thankfully, it has become reality.
It centres around a young Kerry woman called 'Noeleen' who moves to Dublin to fulfill her dream of becoming a VHI worker. One fateful night, she stumbles into 'Coppers' where she meets Dubliner 'Gino' and a love story unfolds, despite the language barrier.
It was written by Paul Howard (who you'll know as the creator of cult character Ross O'Carroll-Kelly) and on this morning's Dermot and Dave he joined us for a chat about what punters can expect.
He also told us why it took so long to get the project off the ground, how the Anglo musical was nearly the end of him and why stereotypes are what they are.
Copper Face Jacks:The Musical is in The Olympia Theatre until the 12th of August and you can purchase your tickets here.
