Comedy legend Phill Jupitus is feeling pumped for the Vodafone Comedy Carnival in Galway (23rd-29th October) but he cannot seem to wrap his head around how Dermot and Dave sell-out shows.
He's so baffled in fact that he thinks he needs to change his own name to, "Dermot and Dave, the famous new Nigerian stand-up".
The former Never Mind the Buzzcocks team captain is in the middle of a massive Juplicity tour over in the UK where he reckons he's still got 'it', "basically put me anywhere in the UK and 100 people will come". Not a bad comforter that.
Here he is Live At The Apollo:
Phill told us a bit more about his Irish roots, where after a bit of 'light research' he found out he was "Irisher than I thought".
He revealed his latest hack to ensure a more successful gig - by cutting out the booze, "I was doing 3 shows a day at the Fringe (Edinburgh) this year", so he'd be fairly frazzled if he was having a few beers each evening.
There was also the random story of where his love of baseball came from (at a game in Boston when he felt like a stranger's third child), why he stopped performing in musical theatre, "I felt like I should remove myself from being a problem to producers" and his love of the Galway Comedy Festival, "I've been there since it started. It's a very vibey festival".
You can catch Phil in the Róisín Dubh in Galway tonight, The Bowery in Rathmines, Dublin tomorrow night and every day of the Vodafone Comedy Festival.
