Weddings come in all shapes and sizes. Some people like to have a 400+ guest extravaganza, where even the neighbour's dog gets an invite, then there's the mini sun holiday ceremony, where a couple bring only a handful of their family and friends to a picturesque location abroad (an Instagrammer's paradise), but if you're not into all the hassle of guest lists, wedding planners and venue hunting, you can always say 'I do' in secret.
And that's exactly what David O'Hara and his partner Taryn decided to do.
The Topflight Today FM Ski Trip is renowned for its matchmaking prowess, with thousands of friendships, loads of smooching and at least ten weddings happening over the past 20 years.
Back in 2014, David jetted off to Kirchberg, Austria on his own. Whilst getting into the different levels of Ski groups, he met a girl called Taryn.
The romance blossomed when he asked her in one of the local bars, Heidi & Peter, if she had any deodorant (we've never heard that one before). She asked what was in it for her…
To make a long story short, they got married on September 20th last!
On the morning of the wedding, David met Today FM Sport's & offtheball.com's Paul Collins while carrying a bouquet of flowers! They recognised each other from the past few years on the slopes.
After telling PC (Paul) he was in fact getting married to a girl he met on the Ski Trip, PC took a pic off him. However, because the wedding was a secret, Paul was asked not to post it anywhere.
However, Paul innocently let the cat out of the bag on Friday morning when we were announcing the 2019 Ski Date after the 8 o'clock news bulletin - PC mentioned that he met a man on the street the day before who was on the Ski Trip a few years back and was getting married to a girl he met in Kirchberg.
Paul & Taryn’s phones lit up that morning as everyone put two and two together! They were due to go to Sligo to tell Taryn’s mother that morning...
Iano gave David a call to find out how it all panned out. And PC was there to face the music...
