Over the past couple of years doughnut shops have been springing up across Dublin and other parts of the country.
But as Aungier Danger announces it will be closing down, could this signal the end of the doughnut craze?
Patrick Hanlon and Russell Alford from GastroGays think it may have had its moment, and that a lot of doughnut chains probably tried to be overly quirky.
Patrick says, "I think everyone was trying to be unique at the same time. It's all about capturing the essence of a unique and exciting flavour, and sometimes it can get a bit show-offy and there isn't that substance underneath."
Russell adds, "It's so important that everything has to taste good. Food is there to be eaten, it can't just look good, and that's why some things that look pretty often don't taste great because they've just been thinking about the visuals and never about the flavour."
