Just a couple of weeks after it was announced that Donald Trump would visit Ireland in November, it has now been cancelled for scheduling reasons.
Trump was due to visit Dublin and spend time at his golf course in Doonbeg.
It was previously confirmed that the US president would travel to Paris for a 100th anniversary commemoration of the Armistice that ended World War I. He had intended to stop off in Ireland on the way back.
It now appears unlikely that the Taoiseach will meet with Trump until next year's St. Patrick's Day visit to Washington.
Is there a sense of relief within the government that this is now not going ahead?
