As a shy, comedy-loving teen, all Lindy West wanted to do was "write jokes about wizards [and] love letters to John Goodman's meaty, sexual forearms" she writes in her new book.

Instead, she rose to prominence using her columns at The Stranger, Jezebel and the Guardian to tackle misogyny with jokes – tackling rape jokes, fat acceptance and dealing with online abuse.

Lindy West writes about topics as varied as pop culture, social justice and body image in her new book Shrill.

Her book is both poignant and will make readers both laugh and cry - whether she's writing about being fat-shamed or confronting the troll who posed online as her recently deceased father.
