Donald Trump has called his former aide Omarosa Manigault Newman a "dog" and a "crying lowlife" in a Twitter attack.
His remarks have come just days ahead of the release of Omarosa's book, Unhinged, which includes various allegations about Trump. Among these is a claim that there are audio tapes of him using the N-word during recordings of The Apprentice.
Trump has denied using a racial slur, describing it as "a terrible and disgusting word."
When you give a crazed, crying lowlife a break, and give her a job at the White House, I guess it just didn’t work out. Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!

It's unclear whether there is any truth to Omarosa's claims, but is it acceptable for the US President to describe someone in such dehumanising terms?
Marion McKeone and Michael Walsh discussed this and more in our weekly US slot.
