Cavani unhappy at Manchester United according to striker's father

The father of Edinson Cavani claims the striker does not feel comfortable at Manchester United.

The Uruguayan striker joined the Premier League giants in October of last year, signing a one-year contract with the option of a second.

Cavani has missed three of the last four United league games through injury, but has made an impact since signing as a free agent.

The 34-year old has found the net seven times in 25 games this season.

Cavani has been linked with a potential move to Boca Juniors in recent weeks, due to his personal connection with vice-president Juan Roman Riquelme.

Luis Cavani told Argentina's TyC Sports, "My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again.

"Edinson is going to end up playing in South America.

"I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.

"Edinson had many conversations with Riquelme and he would like to play for Boca. He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca.

"If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca."

A three-year contract is reportedly waiting for Cavani at the Bombonera, with his father claiming, "By the middle of the year he will return to South America.

"My son's idea is not to continue there, he wants to return."

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about Cavani's latest injury after Sunday's Manchester derby win, saying, "He had to come off [in] training, he didn’t feel right unfortunately."

He added, "He’s got a niggle again unfortunately. He had to come off training yesterday. We had to make a team without him."

It's not known if he'll be fit enough to face AC Milan in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

Matt Doherty believes he is ‘turning the corner’ at Tottenham
