Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill is backing Seamus Coleman to fight back from his horrific injury.
The Everton full back has undergone surgery on the double leg fracture he suffered during World Cup qualifier against Wales at the Aviva Stadium
Welsh defender Neil Taylor was instantly sent off for the horrendous tackle on the Irish captain.
Coleman is now facing a lengthy period of rehabilitation and is unlikely to play for the rest of the year.
Shane Long was among the first to reach Coleman after the injury.
The Southampton striker says he did everything he could to comfort his good friend.
