The advent of social media has really added to fan enjoyment of sport.
Admittedly not if you're an Arsenal fan after their 5-1 Champions League last-16 hammering by Bayern Munich which saw the Gunners exit 10-2 on aggregate.
But for everyone else in the category of interested bystanders when major stories break it provides an instant link to banter and humour. You've gotta love it. Not so much if it's your team that's on the wrong end of a caning. But even pleas for 'help and understanding' in the aftermath of such traumatic results can help fuel the craic.
Take the case of Keith Greaney who tweeted me after the full time whistle with the following message.
@paulcollinstipp Be gentle tomorrow ðŸ˜

Quick off the mark with a response was Donegal hammer Ian Hardiman.
@greaney_keith @paulcollinstipp you're sounding as fragile as the arsenal defence

Latecomers to the tv coverage might indeed have been forgiven for thinking GAA rules applied in the match!

This was my own contribution. I'll get my coat. After that Arsene might be doing so soon as well!
