He's kept it under wraps for a long time, but did you know that Brian Kerr was once approached to manage Olympiakos?

The former Republic of Ireland boss joined us on co-commentary on Premier League Live today, as he watched Everton cruise to a 3-0 win against West Brom.

He stayed on the line after the game to chat to us for the World of Football, where we look back at some of the strange stories that didn't quite make the back pages. And it was only when we spoke about the Greek side sacking their manager Paulo Bento despite being seven points clear in the Super League, that Kerr dropped the news on us.

He went on to reveal that he had been approached to take over while managing the Republic of Ireland, but opted to stay with the national side in the hope of reaching the 2006 World Cuo in Germany.

"Believe it or believe it not, I was actually approached to manage Olympiakos.

"I kind of doubted the approach and the sincerity of the agent that came to me, but he was very convincing about it at the time," he joked.

"I did wonder how about long one would last there, even at that time. They were second, they weren't winning the league at the time so the manager wasn't on very safe ground, when you think about what's happening with Bento at the moment.

"I wouldn't say they have a great record of loyalty and stability at Olympiakos in terms of coaches, irrespective of how its going."
