Carl Frampton "very much doubts" his world title fight will happen in June

Carl Frampton admits it's unlikely that his WBO super-featherweight title fight against Jamel Herring will happen this June.

Promoter Frank Warren announced that an agreement had been reached this week for the bout to take place in Belfast, though the COVID-19 outbreak has threatened to postponed it until later this year.

"The latest is that terms have been agreed for the fight to take place but as to when and where is very much up in the air at the minute," the Jackal has told UTV Sport.

"They kinda have it tentatively pencilled in for June but to be brutally honest I very much doubt that will now go ahead. I'm hoping it will but I'm really not sure that it will.

"There's more important things now in life, peoples' health if of the upmost importance so a fight between myself and Jamel Herring can be put on the back-burner for the time being.

"I know Frank is hopeful and I'm hopeful that the fight will go ahead as planned, I just very much doubt it."

Former two-weight world champion Frampton has left his training camp in Manchester to instead continue his preparations from his home in Belfast.

"It think it's going to be difficult for most boxers and to be honest most people really. This is the maddest thing that's ever happened in my lifetime and people are just unsure what the next move is going to be.

"I've got a young family and I've got mum and dad and stuff and other people around me that you work about and it's just about looking after your loved ones and family at the minute. That's what I'm focusing on at the moment."
