Cork make four changes for visit of Roscommon

Cork football manager Ronan McCarthy has made four changes ahead of their final Super 8s match against Roscommon at Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday.

Nemo Rangers' Micheál Martin has been handed a start in goal, James Loughrey has been selected at corner-back with Eoghan McSweeney and Paul Kerrigan picked in attack for the visit of the Connacht champions.

Mark White, Liam O’Donovan, Tomas Clancy and Brian Hurley drop to the bench.

The Rebels can't make the semi-finals, having lost their opening two matches against Dublin and Tyrone while the Rossies are also unable to advance.

But McCarthy has dismissed the idea that the game is merely a "dead-rubber".

“The term dead-rubber annoys me. If you had an A versus B game in training, there is competition in that. This is an inter-county championship match with two points at stake. People who say there is nothing riding on it don’t appreciate high-level sports", the Rebels boss told The Irish Examiner.

“High-level sports teams, be it training or whatever, always prepare properly and always go out to try and win.

“There might be people out there saying it is not important, but it is important to us and it is important to finish our season with a win.”

Cork team to face Roscommon:
