Clare hurling manager Davy Fitz spoke to Ray, from his bed, this morning about the team’s All-Ireland win against Cork on Saturday.
Speaking about the pressures of winning as a manager compared to that as a player, Davy admitted: “there’s a lot more pressure on as a manager...because, when things don’t go right, 9 times out of 10 you’re going to get the blame”.
He had words of praise for the whole team, telling Ray “they’re a special group of lads, they’re so dedicated”, and in particular mentioned triple scorer Shane O’Donnell, a last minute change to the squad, and Darach Honan, who came back from injury, for their scoring prowess.
Davy said he wasn’t ready to think about next year at the moment, but that: “we’ll be back fighting very hard next year, and the year after and the year after that, but they can never take away Clare 2013 All-Ireland Champions, and what a feeling!".
