All-Ireland football champions Dublin will play Tyrone in this year's semi-finals, after both sides cruised to quarter final wins this evening.

Dublin were never troubled against a Monaghan side who had looked to be improving week on week, leading by eight points at the break, before easing to a 1-19 to 12 point victory.

They kicked nine of the first 10 points, four of which were Dean Rock frees, while Paul Mannion chipped in with two great scores from play.

Monaghan started the second half brightly, but they game was effectively killed off soon after, with Rock palming in the game's only goal, having been played in by Paddy Andrews.

Stephen Cluxton's record breaking 89th championship appearance wasn't completely uneventful, called into action on 48 minutes to deny Jack McCarron. His point blank save killed off any real chance of a Monaghan fightback.

Awaiting Dublin in the last four are Tyrone, with Mickey Harte's side racking up another huge score to defeat a flat Armagh.

The Ulster champions were emphatic 3-17 to 8 point winners, bringing their total in four games this season up to 6-77.

The game was all but over after barely a quarter of an hour, with Tyrone opening up an eight point lead.

They hit the opening five points of the game, with Mark Bradley contributing two of them from play.

Bradley was then fouled for a Tyrone penalty, which Peter Harte converted easily. Armagh finally found some rhythm to hit three of the next four points, but still found themselves seven behind at the break.

After half time, Tyrone killed the game off. David Mulgrew came off the bench to score two goals and a point.

His first came 15 minutes from time, sidefooting into the top corner from close range, before a feint dummy allowed him to bury his second soon after.

The only blemish was Cathal McCarron's late red card for a second bookable offence, but he won't be suspended for their huge semi-final against the Champions on August 27.

Tyrone boss Mickey Harte says his side's performance made up for last year's disappointing quarter final defeat to Mayo, and added that their 1-5 blitz early on was crucial.

For Armagh, it's the end of their best championship summer in three years, having seen off Fermanagh, Westmeath, Tipperary and Kildare.

Manager Kieran McGeeney says they simply came up against a superior opponent.
