Ederson ruled out of Manchester City's trip to Liverpool

Manchester City are set to be without their goalkeeper Ederson for Sunday's top of the table Premier League clash at leaders Liverpool.

The Brazilian stopper is still feeling the effects of a muscular problem suffered in City's 1-1 draw against Atalanta in the Champions League midweek.

Manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Ederson won't be making the trip to Anfield and he's backing Claudio Bravo to be an able deputy.

"Ederson is not able to play on Sunday," the City boss said. "How long is he out for? I don't know.

"We have another top goalkeeper. We won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup thanks to Claudio Bravo. He is an exceptional goalkeeper and has played a lot of games for Chile. No doubts.

"Why shouldn't I be confident in my players? I would not like to be a player if my manager doubts me.

"I see him every day in training sessions, how good a player he is. We're not going to lose because of Claudio.

"He has had a long career at the top, won the Copa America. Respect that guy, he is an incredible, top, top 'keeper."

Bravo was sent off in the Atalanta game this week and hasn't played in the Premier League since May 2018.
