Emery insists Arsenal won't sell Aubameyang

Arsenal boss Unai Emery says the club have no intention of selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang amid speculation linking him with Manchester United.

The Gabon striker, who was the joint-top scorer in the Premier League last season, is reportedly an £80-million target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

After their 2-2 draw with Real Madrid in Washington last night Emery was asked whether he'd consider selling the forward in order to boost their transfer kitty.

"Not really in our mind. Not really. We are very happy with Aubameyang and we don’t want to sell him."

Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette were paired in attack against Madrid and the Gunners boss feels they can work together in the same side.

"They compliment each other very good but they can play both, they were playing both and sometimes we are playing one striker or two strikers and another moment with one winger, and one winger and we have a very big possibility with different options with Aubameyang because he can play like a lone striker, like a striker with two and can play on the right wing and the left wing,’ said Emery.

"But, above all, we want to be very, very aggressive in the attacking third and also with moving forward to score with him and when we are deciding to play with another player maybe they are more one to one winger, one to one left or right, or maybe like Mesut. More deep to take the ball and to keep our possession with him in the pitch."

Emery's also revealed that there's little chance Laurent Koscielny will return to the fold after he refused to travel to the USA with the team.

The Gunners captain has been attempting to get Arsenal to rescind his contract to allow him to make a free transfer move to Bordeaux.

“I tried to continue working and finding one solution between the club, between him and us.

“When he decided not to come here with us on tour, the solution is now only for the club and him.

“He decided to be out. I respect him but I have a responsibility, he has a responsibility, and the club have their responsibility.

“Now it’s an issue only for the club and him. My idea is to continue with the players we are working with, and the players that want to be here.”
