FAI say reports and audits into association to be presented within the month

The FAI say a pair of reports into the association will be delivered in the coming weeks.

FAI President Donal Conway told the association's National Council at Abbotstown that the Board of the FAI expects to receive the Sport Ireland-commissioned independent audit by KOSI later this month.

That report was due to be delivered early in October but was delayed due to the resignation of former CEO and Executive vice-president John Delaney.

Conway informed the National Council that they have co-operated fully with KOSI and that they're looking forward to receipt of the report.

The FAI-commissioned report by Mazars will be available in its initial form "towards the end of November".

Conway also says that Deloitte are on-site at FAI headquarters in Abbotstown finalising their audit of the associations accounts for 2018, and the revised accounts for 2017. Results of both audits are due to be presented at a re-convened AGM in late November or early December.

The FAI have also confirmed that a High Court date has been set for November 14 after they claimed privilege on two documents sought by the ODCE in their investigation of the association.

Conway told the National Council today, "The FAI has now submitted tens of thousands of documents to the ODCE and continues to co-operate fully with their investigation.

"The most recent production of 10,048 documents includes two documents containing legal advice which the FAI have sought privilege on."

While the positions of four new independent directors of the newly-formulated 12-person Board are due to be filled "in a number of weeks."

Conway's update to the Council claimed, "The Board has been informed by global recruitment firm Amrop that a short-list of candidates for the appointment of four Independent Non-Executive Directors, including an Independent Chairperson, is now complete.

"The final stage of this process is now the responsibility of the Nominations Committee."

The FAI also remain confident of the restoration of Government funding, with "significant milestones" in the quest for reform set to be reached "in the coming weeks".
