FIFA has long been a laughing stock of world sport. After the arrest of several senior members of the organisation on corruption charges even more conspiracy theories are set to emerge following their press conference in Zurich. Was the timing of all this set to co-incide with the presidential elections? Is this meant as Sepps final throw of the dice to hold onto power by showing he is making an effort to clean up the scandal plagued organisation as he bids for a fifth term? These questions are raised after Walter De Gregario FIFA spokesperson revealed the organisation itself invited the FBI investigation by providing files to US prosecutors. Needless to say twitter went into overdrive today. This was one of my favorites:
