Former England wing Wade scores touchdown on NFL debut

Former England rugby winger Christian Wade scored a 65-yard touchdown on his NFL debut last night.

He turned out for the Buffalo Bills as a running back for the first time in a pre-season game against the Indianapolis Colts, coming on in the fourth-quarter.

"I knew where I was going even before the ball came because they overloaded one side," the former Wasps player told ESPN.

"Then as soon as I got the ball I was off to the races. I was looking up at the screen to see if any of the linebackers or anyone was coming up behind me.

The Bills went on to win 24-16.

Wade is trying to make a new career in the NFL as part of the league’s International Player Pathway.

The franchise tweeted after "this a Christian Wade fan account until further notice".
