Off The Ball understands that Croke Park officials are set to meet with Mayo donor Tim O'Leary early next week as GAA director general Tom Ryan looks to solve the impasse between the county board and the supporters association.

In correspondence seen by Off The Ball and dated November 25th, Ryan tells Mayo GAA that they "would be glad" to meet O'Leary and would "be grateful" for any assistance in making those arrangements.

O'Leary is head of the Mayo GAA International Supporters Club. It has been withholding €250,000, which was raised at a gala function in New York last year, due to concerns over governance issues. That had led to an "in-camera" discussion around a vote of confidence in the County Board's executive at the start of November.

Earlier this month, the GAA director general had intervened in a bid to end the impasse and Mayo's County Board Executive were summoned to a meeting with Connacht Council and Central Council officials to "scope" the extent of the problem.

Email

"Thank you for meeting me and my colleagues on last Friday," the November 25th email reads.

"We appreciate the difficult situation that the County Committee is currently faced with and we will offer whatever support and assistance may be required to reach a positive outcome for all concerned.

"We would be glad to meet with Mr O'Leary in this regard and I would be grateful if you could assist in making the arrangements for such a meeting.

"In the meantime, out of respect to all parties, and in order to better facilitate a resolution can I ask that you refrain from making any further public statements on the matter?"

The news follows confirmation that Michael Gallagher has been reinstated as a candidate for the Mayo GAA County Board PRO position.

Gallagher had previously spoken to OTB AM about being removed from the election race.
