Galway have ended their 16 year wait for a win at Croke Park, beating Kildare in the 2017 Allianz Football League Division 2 final.
An 0-18 to 0-16 victory was the Tribesmen’s first at GAA headquarters since they defeated Meath in the 2001 All Ireland final.
Galway were trailing Kildare by three points with 15 minutes to play, but put in an impressive closing display to record a second win over the Lilywhites in seven days.
Captain Gary O'Donnell told Neil Treacy the result is a massive boost as they wait for the start of the defence of their Connacht crown.
O'Donnell is pleased hard work has helped break Galway’s Croke Park hoodoo.
