If you're a GAA player there's no worse time to get injured. Before a ball is thrown in for Waterford's Munster Senior Hurling Championship campaign, their ace marksman has to come to terms with playing no part in the summer action. Deise star Paraic Mahoney is facing an operation on a broken shin he sustained playing for his club Ballygunner
at the weekend which will rule him out of the championship.
It's his 23rd birthday today so send him our best wishes if you see him at WRH.
Paraic was on fire for his county this season bagging 1-90 in 8 league games and 11 points in the final in an incredible final display.
The defending Waterford county champions won the game that ended Paraic's season against Ballyduff Upper
at Dungarvan's Fraher Field 2-18 to 9 points but the match was held up for 17 minutes while
the star forwards injury was dealt with.
At least Derek McGrath has a few other key men like Kevin Moran, Michael Walsh and Austin Gleeson to help fire up the Deise cause. Get well soon Paraic.
