Fair play Padraig

Ireland's Padraig Harrington is just 3 strokes off the lead at the Genesis golf open in California.

The 3 time major winner is 4 under after an opening 67 while Graeme Mc Dowell is 2 under.

Shane Lowry will complete his first round today.

The Offaly man was 3 over after 16 when play was suspended due to darkness.

Sam Saunders leads by 2 on 7 under with Dustin Johnson among the chasing pack on 5 under.

P Harrington is suffering from a trapped nerve, numbness in his hand and pins and needles so not a bad start given his injury woes!

Davy on a winning streak?

Wexford senior hurlers got a huge boost under new manager, Davy Fitzgerald in the opening round of the Allianz League last Sunday, beating Limerick by three points. The Slaneysiders next test is against Galway, who were even easier winners against Offaly, romping to victory by 26 points. It will be the first Allianz Hurling League clash between Galway and Wexford since 2011 when the Tribesmen won by 21 points. And the fact that Davy is involved adds a bit of spice but the Sixmilebridge clubman insists he's no Keith Barry!

Three intriguing contests are on this weekend’s top flight agenda, with first round winners, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford attempting to edge closer to booking quarter-finals and Dublin, Kilkenny and Clare bidding to get back on track after losing their opening games. Waterford and Tipperary, who meet in Walsh Park on Sunday, both recorded impressive wins over Kilkenny and Dublin respectively last weekend.

Tipperary had an easy win over Waterford in last year’s Munster final, while the Deise enjoyed a one-point win over Tipp in last year’s Allianz Hurling League clash in Thurles and the Port Lairge boys want to get into the 2017 groove quickly to banish the ghosts of last season. Fair to say there will be plenty timber needed on Sunday!

Story Chris?

He's a former player turned media pundit, and seems to have a good sense of humour but seriously Chris Kamara?
