Gold Cup favourite Kemboy has been cleared to run by Horse Racing Ireland, the regulator announced today.

Supreme Horseracing Club, the owners of Kemboy and other horses were banned from entering their horses by HRI. It was feared that Kemboy, who is favourite for the Gold Cup at Cheltenham would miss the Christmas festival at Leopardstown and possibly more due to the ban.

HRI and some former syndicate members appear to have worked out a solution to the impasse. Kemboy is expected to be declared for the Savills Chase at Leopardstown, the feature race on day three of the Christmas Festival.

Statement

That will now be the case following a statement from the governing body:

Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) has accepted new registrations for seven horses previously registered under Supreme Horse Racing Club.

Race entries for the horses – Aramon, Cadmium, Defy De Mee, Harrie, Hybery, Kemboy and Robin De Carlow – can now be made.

The new registrations have been formed under new syndicates comprising members who have come forward as shareholders in those horses.

The new syndicates have agreed that any prize money won will be held within their Horse Racing Ireland syndicate account and no withdrawals will be permitted until at least the end of the 2019/2020 National Hunt season.

This will allow members time to take further steps, including finalising the shareholding in each horse.

Horse Racing Ireland expect additional horses, formerly registered under Supreme Horse Racing Club, to be registered through a similar process in the coming days.
