It looks like Rory McIlroy will be missing the cut at the Irish Open for a third year in a row.
The world number one signed for a round of 80 which is his worst ever at this tournament.
McIlroy who is the tournament host this week, teed off at 8am in the marquee group alongside Rickie Fowler and Martin Kaymer.
They started on the back nine and McIlroy parred his first but that was the last time he was level par.
He played his first nine in 41 shots (+5) after four bogeys in a row which included a three putt on the par five 18th.
It didn’t get any better on his back nine with four more bogeys so McIlroy has finished up on 9 over and didn’t make one birdie in his round.
