Ireland have won the Six Nations champions for the second year in a row and once again they did it in dramatic fashion. Joe Schmidt's men started the day level on six points with England and Wales but England were in the box seat with a better points difference.

First up Wales destroyed Italy in the second half to win 61-20 in Rome. The Welsh ran in eight tries and that result meant Ireland needed to beat Scotland by 21 points to overtake the Welsh.

Ireland scored four tries on their way to a 40-10 win at Murrayfield. Paul O'Connell got the ball rolling and man of the match Sean O'Brien touched down for two while Jared Payne got his first International try.

It was 40-10 with five minutes to go and Ireland missed a few penalties to extend their lead but and how crucial Jamie Heaslip's try saving tackle on Stuart Hogg turned out to be.

England knew they needed to beat France by 26 points to deny Ireland back to back titles and Stuart Lancaster's side almost got there. The final score at Twickenham was England 55 France 35 which means Ireland win the Championship on points difference just like they did last year.
