Israel Folau set to make his Super League debut with Catalans this weekend

Controversial new Catalans Dragon signing Israel Folau is in line to make his rugby league debut for the club this weekend.

He's been named in their 21-man squad for Saturday's Super League match with Castleford.

Folau's arrival in Super League has been widely criticised by clubs and players in the RFL. He was sacked by Rugby Australia last May for making homophobic comments on social media, claiming "hell awaits" homosexual people.

But Dragons coach

"I'm excited to be back playing the game I grew up playing," Folau recently told Catalans' website ahead of his first professional rugby league game in a decade.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of a great organisation and a great team in Catalans.

"Being able to train with the team and work alongside the coaches, that's something I've missed in the last seven months but it's fantastic to be back in a team environment and getting into that routine of training hard again, enjoying the game and putting my best foot forward."
