Hugo MacNeill is confident that Ireland's bid for the Rugby World Cup won't fall victim to corruption.

The former British and Irish Lion is part of the team who are aiming to bring the world's third biggest tournament to these shores in 2023.

Football's governing body FIFA is currently embroiled in a corruption crisis with Swiss authorities investigating the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar.

Ireland will have to beat the likes of South Africa, France, Italy and the USA to stage the rugby's most prestigious competition.

MacNeill, who recently attended a meeting of all the candidates in London, is sure it will be a fair fight.

Speaking at the Webb Ellis Cup's visit to Dublin, MacNeill said rugby has no history of improper practice.
