Dublin manager Jim Gavin believes Kerry forward Stephen O'Brien will be cleared to play in the All Ireland Senior Football Final on September 1.

O'Brien is in danger of missing the final after picking up a black card in the semi-final win over Tyrone last Sunday.

It was the Kenmare clubman's third black card of the season so as things stand he will be suspended for the final.

However, Kerry are set to appeal the black card O'Brien was shown against Meath in the final round of games in the Super 8's.

Speaking yesterday at the Dublin media day ahead of the final Gavin said:

" You don't want to see any player missing an All Ireland final, I am sure that the Kerry County Board will put their case together. "

The Dublin manager also insisted that Kerry are the real deal and not just a developing team that is yet to reach its peak.

Gavin said: "They were very accomplished and against Cork - in their first six attacks they had 1-5 on the board.

"They continued that form against Mayo, then in the semi-final against Tyrone - four points down at half-time and different questions asked of them, they reacted in the appropriate way and finished with aplomb.

"So that's not a team that's developing. That's a serious team.

"They've had a lot of experience with that core group and their time is right now - it's not next year. "
